TeaWHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR CONSULTATION
I am here to help you whether you are healthy and want to work on health maintenance and prevention, or have specific health concerns. If you have never worked with a naturopath before, it’s natural to wonder what to expect during your consultation. The following information will give you a general overview of my practice.

When you book your appointment, you will receive a letter of confirmation, directions to my practice, instructions for performing a simple health test, and a personal health questionnaire.

My first priority as a Naturopath is to assess your individual health needs in a variety of ways. If you have health concerns, I will also be working to determine the nature and cause of your illness. Although I do work with natural medicine to help your symptoms, the deeper work involves determining where your illness originates, or what is generating it, and working to help your body restore normal function.

If you are generally healthy and are more interested in preventive care, I will work with you to assess your genetic and individual needs, and set up a long-term health program for you.

YOUR HEALTH EVALUATION
As part of your evaluation I will:

  • Take the time to listen to you.
  • Review your completed health questionnaire.
  • Review your current healthcare routine and medical history–which includes past and present medical problems, surgeries, hospitalizations and medications.
  • Review any medical tests or reports you bring with you.
  • Review information about family and close relative’s medical conditions.
  • Assess your environment and other pertinent information.
  • Review current medications, herbs and nutritional supplements.
  • Review your lifestyle including alcohol, drug and tobacco use, current or past; amounts of exercise and physical activity; sleep quality: dietary habits: occupational or household exposures to hazards such as lead, asbestos, solvents, ambient chemicals or moulds.
  • Perform non-invasive physical exams that are relevant for your case/symptoms.
  • Assess your biochemical/metabolic and genetic individuality.
  • Order any specific laboratory, diagnostic or functional tests that can assist me in identifying your health needs.
  • I will discuss options and resources for any stress/emotional issues related to your health.
  • Perform an Iridology assessment to determine genetic strengths and weakness, and to help evaluate the root cause of illness or health concerns you may have.

After your examination, I will provide an explanation of my findings, and order lab tests to provide a functional diagnosis. Test results will be discussed in detail at your next appointment, and I will then recommend the best clinical approach to take.

No matter what your level of health, or health concerns, I will provide the most appropriate dietary recommendations, and the most effective course of treatment whilst taking into account your genetic and metabolic individuality.

TREATMENTS
My practice is based on safe, effective integrative and holistic modalities including functional medicine, metabolic medicine, clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, and homeopathy. I also focus on foundational nutrition and whole body detoxification.

I draw on a unique combination of therapies to help your body heal. These include, but are not limited to:

  • cleansing or detoxing and pH balancing programs
  • metabolic biochemical dietary matching
  • personalized dietary programs
  • stress management including EFT & NLP
  • herbal medicine
  • homeopathic medicine
  • nutritional medicine
  • enzyme therapy
  • hydrotherapy
  • exercise
  • massage, meditation, acupuncture, cranial sacral work
  • osteopathic or chiropractic manipulation
  • allopathic medical intervention if necessary

YOUR PROGRAM
It is important to remember that each person manifests illness in a way that is unique to them. There is no such thing as a “one size fits all” health program in my practice. I do not have a standard arthritis plan, or an osteoporosis plan, or a menopause plan; every program that I design is created exclusively for each individual, and focuses not just on the illness and treating symptoms, but also on balancing the body and immune system, promoting overall wellbeing, preventing recurring illness, and creating lasting health.

AT THE CONCLUSION OF YOUR INITIAL CONSULTATION
When your initial consultation is concluded, you will have received a thorough education about your condition and…

  • A simple-to-follow basic-program chart
  • Fact sheets and/or instruction sheets
  • A copy of my publication, “The Body Owner’s Guidebook”
  • An individualized copy of one of my diet planning, or pH balancing or cleansing/detox guidebooks.

You will leave my office with all the tools you’ll need to follow the first, or foundational phase, of your program.

My free call-in is available to enable you to check in with me (I encourage this) and to ask questions, I can also be reached at other times via my voice mail.

Natural PharmacyMY NATUROPATHIC DISPENSARY
Your treatment results are highly dependant on the safety, quality, and potency of the tools in my Dispensary…as well as your compliance.

My Dispensary supplements are developed for use only by licensed healthcare providers, and the labs which research and manufacture them hold themselves to the very highest safety and manufacturing practices (GMP)—far beyond what is required for commercially available supplements. GMP formulas meet critical and demanding standards and contain only the highest quality, most potent ingredients.

While there are countless supplements and supplement manufacturers, I am constantly working to ensure that my Dispensary is stocked ONLY with the most effective and clinically researched formulas.

Supplements are available to patients through my website order section, and a number of other convenient options.

CONFIDENTIALITY
All information and/or test results obtained or discussed in the course of your treatment are kept strictly confidential. If you wish your case to be discussed with another physician or practitioner, or your records or test results provided to any other healthcare provider, you are required to provide a written request including your permission/consent. There will be a minimum charge of $10 for administration, photocopying, preparation and mailing of records. Medical information will never be faxed or emailed without your consent. Confidentiality is a primary concern in my practice.

INSURANCE
At the present time, insurance coverage for naturopathic care is limited, and based on individual insurance policies. My office does not process any type of insurance, but I can provide a receipt you may submit to your insurance company should you choose to do so.

SCOPE OF PRACTICE
Although naturopaths are trained in primary care, I do not carry a pager or practice “acute or emergency medicine”. My patients retain MDs or DOs as their primary care providers (PCPs). I work with patients on a long-term basis to correct the underlying cause of their disease. I refer out for blood draws, pap and pelvic exams, school physicals, and all emergency care. When appropriate I will refer patients to highly qualified practitioners for physical therapy, osseous manipulation, cranial sacral therapy, psychological counseling, surgical procedures and allopathic medical care.
